Pugilance Membership Levels

WPL™ Membership is required for participation in all World Pugilance League™ Tournaments, events, and other activities. Memberships are available in five levels, according to a Lancer’s skill level ranking, each having a minimum Pugilance™ skill level requirement. Memberships require renewal either upon reaching the memberships skill level ceiling or on a biennial basis (whichever comes first). If you have any questions contact us for further details.

Basic Pugilancer Memberships

This grade of membership must be renewed at each promotion, regardless of time in grade. This will give the Lancer a Pugilance ID Card, a WPL#, and access to all the areas of the pugilance.com website that other Lancers of the same rank are able to use. This grade may be used for all Lancer levels EXCEPT that of Sage of the Hidden Path.

All basic memberships are $15 initiation fee and per renewal, except for the Front Lancer Membership. Front Lancer Memberships are free of charge.

Rokkyu Membership

Covers membership for 1st through 3rd Level. This level of membership comes with a Pugilance™ ID card, a WPL™ ID number assignment, Front Lancer skill level 1 certificate, basic web access at member’s area of the pugilance.com website, and eligibility to compete in any and all WPL™-sanctioned tournaments, events, and activities. This membership also pays for your Veteran Lancer and Samurai Lancer (skill levels 2 & 3) certificates of promotion when you reach them.

Item #M11. $25 initiation fee and per renewal.

Ikkyu Membership

Covers membership for skill levels 4-6. This level of membership comes with basic web access at member’s area of the pugilance.com website, and eligibility to compete in any and all WPL™-sanctioned tournaments, events, and activities. It also pays for your Sensei Lancer, Master Lancer, and Elite Pugilancer promotion certificates, when you qualify for them.

Item #M12. $25 initiation fee and per renewal.

Full Kyu Membership

This pays for both your Sankyu and Rokkyu memberships in one advanced payment, and at a discount.

Item #M1. $45 initiation fee and per renewal.

Dan Membership

Covers your membership for skill levels 7-10. This level of membership also comes with your Pugilance™ Dan Grade Lancer ID card, upgrading your ID number, web access to the Dan Grade member’s area of the pugilance.com website, eligibility to compete in any and all WPL™-sanctioned tournaments, events, and activities. This membership also pays for your Pugilance™ Grandmaster, Lancer Monk, Lancer of Legend, and Grand Lancer promotion certificates.

Item #M21. $30 initiation fee and per renewal.

Grand Dan Membership

Covers your membership for skill levels 11-13, and pays for your Way of the Lance Cleric, Hidden Path Cleric, and Dragon Warrior promotion certificates. This level of membership also comes with web access to the Dan Grade member’s area of the pugilance.com website and eligibility to compete in any and all WPL™-sanctioned tournaments, events, and activities.

Item #M22. $20 initiation fee and per renewal.

Full Dan Membership

This pays for both your Dan and Grand Dan memberships in one advanced payment, and at a discount.

Item #M2. $45 initiation fee and per renewal.

Sage of the Hidden Path Membership

This level of membership is available only to Sages of the Hidden Path. This level of membership comes with a Sage of the Hidden Path ID card, upgrading your ID number assignment, and web access to the Sage Members-only area of the pugilance.com website. This membership also pays for the Lancer’s Sage of the Hidden Path certificate, testing fees, and a Sage of the Hidden Path Medal of Recognition (to be worn at events to identify all Pugilance Sages). Prospective Sages of the Hidden Path must be examined by the WPL™ Founder’s Council of the Age-Kime-Ryu Martial Society, proving to the Founders’ satisfaction that he or she has sufficiently progressed. This should be both a mental and spiritual progression as much as a combative one.

Two out of the three Founder's examinations must be passed in order to qualify for this level. A series of tests will be conducted. If the candidate is successful, he/she will be welcomed into the ranks of the Sages of the Hidden Path and given a vote in the WPLT Council of Sages. If more than one of these tests is not passed, said Pugilancer will be allowed to re-apply to be tested for Sage certification again after a period of no less than six months has passed.

Item #M-31 $50 covers initiation fees and testing fees.
Item #M-32 $20 retest fees (for reapplications only!).
Item #M-33 $20 per renewal (for biennial renewal of recognised Sages only).

Full Lifetime Pugilancer WPL™ Membership

How serious are you about Pugilance™? For the die-hard Pugilancer, this one-time fee pays for all WPL™ membership renewals in advance, for the rest of your life (this means NO BIENNIAL MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS EVER), and at a significant discount. Lifetime membership status will be indicated on a Pugilancer’s WPL™ Membership Cards as well as in the WPL’s™ Life Members Record (though Lancers will still have to pay a $20 test fee when they reach skill level 14 Sage of the Hidden Path).

Item #M4. $400 covers discounted initiation fees and a reduced estimate of future biennial renewal fees.

Sponsor Membership

The Sponsor Membership is a free membership available to the parent or other qualified adult of any Lancers under the age of 18 to assist with their paperwork and bout/win reporting. It gives them access to the areas of the pugilance.com website equal to their highest ranked Lancer. This membership does not, however, permit them to play the game themselves. Sponsors must fill out and submit a Membership Application and Waiver, and submit renewal materials to maintain their membership.

Item #M5. Free, but still must be renewed every two years.
